Sorting Ceremony - September
We kicked this year off to a wonderful start with even more interest than our first year! All of our new members were sorted into their respective houses (Gryffindoor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin) and the games began with a fun HP character version of Headbands!
Herbology Class - September
We took our first ever trip to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens for a Herbology class! We got to have a neat look at the fantastic and beautiful plant life that graces the magical world.
Costume Contest - October 20th
Because of the club's youthful nature, we held a really awesome costume contest during our general body meeting before Halloween. Everyone had amazing costumes and we even had a surprise performance by Chip Skylark (aka Maria Delgrande)!! Thanks Maria! The video clips of her wonderful performance can be found on our Gallery page. And Congratulations to the Fruit Ninjas for winning the contest!
PMADD: Pitt Make a Difference Day - October 24th
Every fall semester the University of Pittsburgh partners with surrounding Pittsburgh neighborhoods and charitable organizations to do various projects around the city and on campus. It's such a large campus event to get involved in! That's why so many Project Potter members sign up to volunteer together on this great day of service.
DADA: Defense Against the Dark Arts - November 1st
As part of our fundraising efforts, we held our annual self defense class hosted by the Pitt Police. The proceeds from our ticket sales for the event went towards our grand donation to Children's Sickle Cell Foundation.
World Kindness Day - November 13th
Another of Pitt's many days of service, we spent the day painting welcome mats for families who were benefited by Neighborworks of Western Pennsylvania. This PittServes project was dubbed the No Shoes Service project, which we would later complete in the spring semester as the Service MAtTters project.
Lip Sync Battle - January 28th
Oh my goodness! The second annual Lip Sync Battle! We had some great performances and a wonderful time. Congratulations to our winner, Alice Cheng for her performance of the Pokemon Theme Song! She donated the reward to Children's Sickle Cell Foundation.
Service MATters - February 27th
We finished the welcome mats distributed by Neighborworks of Western Pennsylvania! Many members and Pitt students came out to finish this wonderful PittServes project.
Triwizard Tournament - March 26th
Our first annual Triwizard tournament was a great success! We were joined by the Case Western Reserve Quidditch team for some Harry Potter Trivia, a Quidditch obstacle course, Dragon Tails, word puzzles, and social times. It was so much fun that we will definitely host another with more magical friends!
Yule Ball - April 16th
The second annual Yule Ball Benefit was also a great success! Our theme this year was RED in honor of sickle cell awareness! Everyone dressed in their best dress robes and came out for our final fundraising event, which pushed our fundraising over our $2,000 goal. We also were happy to have the photo booth return with old and new props! Photos can be found on our Gallery page.
